I undestand this to mean that you will be reformatting, reinstalling W98, then restoring from backup? This seems rather extreme, and I'm wondering what the original prblem was.

Also, pressing Control+Alt+Delete during the boot process will simply restart the system, and not load the restore program.

Other than that, tho I can't be much help, never having been desperate enough to have done this, if it is what I think.

Based on my helpfulness, maybe I shud keep ryding into the sunset? :p

Not sure what restore disk you have but with the compac restore I have it does the format and everything. You simply put the cd in its drive and follow the prompts. But I agree this is pretty drastic. Alternativly I have done the format:c Then you need to either change your startup order as described elsewhere on this forum or have a floppy startup disk with CD drive support.
