    Hi Folks,
Am having a problem with one of my Windows 8 computers running Outlook 2013 that lately lost the ability to Send/Receive on starting the application. Every time one opens Outlook one has to press the Send/Receive button to check for new mails. I didn't find any setting in Outlook or the registry to fix the problem. Is there some place to restore it?

    Thanks and regards to all,

    Rista :)

Guess I am out of luck!
I had already disabled all add-ins before posting, but there is no more auto checking. Strangely enough if you opt to check Send/Receive on Exit, it works! But that option is not so clever..
So there is something wrong in the programming part of the application. In Office 2010 this was not a problem at least never showed up for any of my machines.
On second thoughts - would it help to restore it if I re-install Outlook ( naturally after making a back-up), since it was working till a week or so right from the beginning?
If not, I suppose I have to wait patiently for an update and will keep an eye on this thread as well.
    Thanks for your input.

    Warm regards,

    Rista

Have you tried using Windows' "System Restore" to roll Windows back to a previous state when your computer was functioning correctly? It allows you to undo system changes without affecting your personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photos.

    I just fixed it guys!

    Download Classic Menu Manager: http://www.addintools.com/office2010/professionalplus/download.html

Install the free version and when asked for applications you want to change your Menus for choose only for Outlook (remove the check marks from other applications)

    When the Classic Menus appear:

    Go to TOOLS | OPEN SEND/RECEIVE ALL FOLDERS | SEND/RECEIVE SETTINGS | UNCHECK "DISABLE SCHEDULED SEND/RECEIVE "

    Business as usual,

    Rista

This is amazing. I'm not trying to bash Microsoft, but I wish they would make software that functions like people want it to, instead of like the company software writers want it to.

It's sad when you have to download third-party applications (Classic Shell, etc.) just to bring some kind of user-friendly functionality to your much used Microsoft programs.
