Each time I empty the Recycle Bin, all my Restore Points are erased. Is this normal or have I checked some little box some where that is causing the problem?

I have two 80 gig hard drives with lots of free space and the area set aside for restore is set to the max.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Hello Ron and welcome,

This problem is a new one on me!

To start, are you monitoring both drives? System > SR tab, not that there should be anything wrong with that unless you're dual booting another OS.

When did this start? Or I should say, when did you start noticing?

How much area is set aside for the Reycle Bin?

There are two ways that I know of that will erase SR points, shutting monitoring/SR service off, or using tracks eraser software - I have one that on a certain setting will erase all the restore points.

    Regards - Charles

Sometimes (Don't ask me why!) I need to turn off SR, reboot, turn it back on again, reboot. I have mysteriously lost months of restore points (meaning SR worked perfectly for days) and then I'll check and they will all be gone. Doing what I just described gets everything working again, usually for a few months, at least. I don't understand this, or even try to understand all of XP's little quirks anymore, I just accept it and keep humming along.

I don't understand the Recycle Bin connection you mentioned. Restore points aren't even supposed to go there when deleted. If emptying the recycle bin is the action that triggers them going away, are the SR points being stored in the recycle area? Just thinking out loud.

BillyBob, did you ever get your system to make regular restore points? Maybe your SR points are not being made in the first place like BB's. Post back with what you find.

No I did not get SR to make any RPs on its own.

Like charlesvar said in another thread I don't worry about it anyway. And like he does I always make own anyway when ever I need to.

I have not had a RP for ever a week until I made one just a few minutes ago when getting ready to test some new software.

Out of curiosity, why do you not use GoBack?
In the dozen plus times I've used it on 2x computers, it has never let me down. Plus it manages more than just system files.
