I accidentally deleted a e-mail address. Is there a way to recover the address?

Also, when sending an e-mail, how do I select multiple addresses for the TO: line from my address book?

    Thank you

where did you delete it from?

from your address book, hold down the ctrl key and select the addresses you want. Then click on Write.

NOTE: these instructions are for windows thunderbird.

I deleted an address from my address book.

My second question: I am already in a email that I want to forward to many people, but can't figure out how to choose people from my address book from there.

    Thanks again

you're up the creek. Its gone forever.

this changes everything from your first posting. From the Forward window, click on View, Sidebar, and select the names from there. This can also be done from the Reply to window, or even the Write window.

You are better off NOT using Forward. When using Forward or CC, everyone that receives the meaages can see the email addresses of all it was sent to. It's far better to use BCC when sending to multiple recipients.

Eventually, spammers get hold of forwarded messages and harvest the valid addresses.

It is possible to use Forward, if I select the addresses, and press on BCC, at the bottom of the Sidebar.

I don't know about TB 3.x, as I don't use it but, in TB 2.x, BCC won't appear at the bottom of the Contacts sidebar unless you have the Add BCC extension installed.

You are 100% correct. I am taking the Addon for granted.

If the person's address you deleted has previously sent you e-mail, I suggest you look in the Address Book named "Collected Addresses" and see if you can find or recognize the deleted address among the list of collected addresses.

It should be there provided they have sent you e-mail and you are using default settings in TB.

    My 2 Cents, Ray

It's been so long since I used TB's default settings that I can't even remember what they are (I'm using TB 2.0.0.24), and I'm unable to open TB in Safe Mode ... instead, I get a message that TB is still running (which it's not, according to Task Manager). Even if I reboot, and try to open in Safe Mode, the message reappears.

Instead, I disabled all of my TB extension, which should have accomplished the same thing (default settings).

Even so, if I open the Address Book's "Collected Addresses" it's completely empty, even though I have many, many respondents.

    Any more thoughts?

Ya! -- I too am apparently having memory problems and should not have relied on memory.

I went and checked and it is not the incoming addresses it saves in "Collected Addresses but, rather the outgoing addresses and the default setting on TB 2.0.0.17 is to save the Outgoing Addresses to the Personal Address Book.

I always make that change to have the messages saved to the "Collected Address" Book, problem was I was thinking it trapped the incoming addresses and I should have left the word default out of my reference.

I have used the Collected Address book lots of times when the person was not in my Personal Address Book and knew I could often times find them in the Collected Addresses. However, in my haste to post I was thinking wrong. But, then I am old and Senile.

This time, we can be sure I got the defaults setting correct and how it works because I just now determined the settings by installing a 2.0.0.17 version of TB which I still had stowed on my computer.

Jim, Regarding the loading of TB in safe mode. I use SeaMonkey all time and really not all that familiar with TB. But, I will tell you this, One time I had a friend who could not get TB to load and it was because FireFox was loaded.

Fact is, if TB was loaded FF would not load and vice verses. I got his problem solved but, it has been so long now I can't remembered what I did to correct it.

Next time you have trouble loading TB, I will suggest you use Task Manager and dump any program related to a Mozilla product providing any are loaded.

My apology to Jeena for posting in haste and not engaging the brain or verifying my memory. However, you might still check your Collected Address Book to see what is there if anything.

AND, one might consider using the Collected Address book as an easy way to have a backup address book unless they are protected other wise.

My 2 Cents Again - Ray

To expand on what Tony says, rather than simply forwarding a message, it's far better to right-click on the message and select "Edit As New..." from the context menu. That way you can remove a lot of the extraneous material, including email addresses, in the message before sending it on.

I completely agree with using BCC when sending the same message to more than one recipient.

    Ray ...

I have no problems with either FF (3.6.15) or TB (2.0.0.24), except that TB will not open in its Safe Mode under any circumstances, including when running Windows in Safe Mode.

I had no intention of hijacking Jeena's thread, but seem to have done so. Rather than continue, I'll present this problem in a new thread.
