I have XP Home Edition on a 250gB drive, with a second 250gB drive on which I've made a clone backup (using Casper). Is it possible to replace these two drives with two 1tB drives, one at a time, and end up with my same system, but with four times as much drive capacity? My uncertainty revolves around the issue of whether some component of Windows would detect the different drive from the one on which it was initially installed and refuse to operate.

    Welcome to WindowsBBS:)

I don't foresee any problems, but check Casper's Help file/FAQ re the resulting partition sizes. I am not familiar with Casper being an Acronis user :)

Anyway you have nothing to lose - remove the OS drive, install the new drive and invoke the restoration of your clone to the new drive. If it all goes pear shaped you have the original diive to slot back in.
