restart window popup

    anytime I do a restart on my computer a window appears which says "cannot find matchli.exe, please browse to find yourself." What is this matcli file and is it important to have on my computer?(win89se)

    I think you have a typo in the file name. Should be "matcli.exe" not matchli.exe??? Regardless do a search on Google for "matcli.exe" and you will get quite a few hits. Seems to be associated with Hewlett Packard and Dell products. Not sure whether you need it or not as I did not go too far into the Google results.

    Edit: Here's an explaination of the matcli.exe file as it relates to HP:

    "matcli.exe is a motive Assistant Command line interface that gathers information about your system's identity like your name email address, city, state, etc and gets written to a log file ". HP Instant Support is required to run with the Help and Support program. If you uncheck HP Instant Support and and then run Help and Support it will add another HP Instant Support in the startup menu. If you remove the HP Instant Support in the add/remove program some help menus in help and support will not be available. "
