i HAVE RECENTLY UPGRADED MY LAPTOP TO WIN 2K AND IAM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH STARTUP. IT INITIALLY SAID THAT "EVENT LOGGER COULD NOT START ". AND IT WOULD NOT LOAD MY DESKTOP. SO I REINSTALLED
WIN 2K BUT NOW IT RUNS VERY SLOWLY OR STALLS. IS THERE A WAY IN WHICH I CAN TAKE IT BACK TO WIN 98 AND START AGAIN?

Hi quartfish and welcome to the forum.

Please don't use ALL CAPS since it is hard to read and is considered the same as shouting in spoken conversation.

If you installed W2K as an upgrade over an existing 98 setup then there is no good way to back off to 98 again.

    My suggestions would be
    - make sure your hardware will support W2K. You can look on the Microsoft Online Support page and find that information.

    - if it will, then I suggest a clean install of W2K. Set the BIOS on your laptop to boot from CD as the first option then let it boot from the 2K install CD, format the drive, and proceed.

    - if your version of W2K is an upgrade, you may at some point during the install be asked to insert another microsoft OS CD to verify that you have one for the upgrade to be legal. Any OS CD will do fine and it only takes a few seconds for the 2K install program to verify then get back to installing.
