I have a stand alone windows 2000 pc which i just powered up for the first time. I entered the password that I want the admin to use. when i rebooted & type it, it won't take.

I know that there is a way to erase the password (file) and enter a new one.

Under NT, i deleted a file, waited for a few minutes then was able to make the change. Haven't done it for a while, forgot the steps.

Can anyone help with the steps.
    Thanks..

AndyO has it right about password crack help. We just don't do it.

The only advice I can offer - but with a new machine it shouldn't be a problem - is to start the install from scratch. Also you might check the capslock situation since NT passwords are case sensitive.

And while you may have been able to delete a file to clear passwords on 9X systems, NT wouldn't allow it.

    Locking this thread.
