Currently using Carbonite to back up my desktop. Is this sufficient? Please advise. Thanks for your time.

Personally I would not trust my data to a third party internet based company however trustworthy they may be. Consider the scenario in which the company is hacked - quite possible or fails taking all your data with it.

At the very least I would maintain my own backup on an external hard drive in addition to the backup at Carbonite. Ideally that drive should be stored away from the computer.

For my part I maintain 2 current backups of all my important data and disk images on independent hard drives. In fact I maintain 3 current backups of my disk images. I find SynchBackSE ideal for making incremental backups, some on a schdule, others manually.

    Food for thought ? :)
