I've seen a thread here that listed a lot of utilities for windows. Searches on
utility and utilities gives page after page of msgs but nothing specific.

Possible to make it sticky, assuming it can be found, that is. :)

    thanks,
    savagcl

    savagcl--Yes, oshwyn5's lists are excellent.
But if you are looking for a utility to perform a specific task, tell us what the task is or go to www.google.com

    oshwyn5, Welshjim,

Thanks, i have them bookmarked now.

I had a small utility that would show any harddrive's layout as a graphic. The
graphic looked like a color coded series of concentric circles with the full HD
being the center, folders in the next ring, files next and each level would show
the size of that particular color coded item when the mouse was pointed at it.
I seem to remember a zoom (in/out) feature was included. Now i dont see it
on my HD nor do i remember the name of the program (except that it was free.

    thanks lots,
    savagcl

savagcl--Well, you called my bluff. I cannot find a program to do what you describe for Windows. (Several for Linux!!). But on the way to searching I found this somewhat overwhelming site
    http://www.dmares.com/maresware/SITES/tasks.htm
Look under Software (Generic) for lots of programs.
P.S. Partition Magic will let you see your partitions, but not in the circular fashion and detail you describe. In WinXP you also can see something similar to PM under DiskManagement.

No bluff intended (but a good challenge is worthwhile). :)

I found it on an "old" zip cd from a couple years ago. Talk about dusty.
Its called "Scanner" so no wonder i couldnt find it.

For those interested, Scanner can be downloaded here. 162K zip install.
