Please could you advise how to get rid of "Class3 Software" (the icon shows up in the Int. Temporary Files which is strange.

Have repeatedly deleted icon from there or "Find ", but it eventually returns...

    Thank you!

I´m on WinXPpro and have quite a lot of "class3*.crl" files or shortcuts to them in one of the several TIF folders in XP.
    * in my file name denotes several different additional words in the file name.

Most of the TIF folders are hidden and unless Windows Explorer is configured to show hidden files, You wouldn´t know they are there.

The "crl" extension stands for "certificate revocation list ". These are a means for programs installed on the computer to check if downloaded data comes from the correct source.

The reason for them being put back all the time is that they are needed. It is misleading that they are put in a TIF folder but I believe that the logic behind that is that they are updated every now and then. A flaw is that the obsolete ones don´t get deleted.

I´m using Ghost for system backup and on one occasion, when I restored the system, I took notes of what happened to those files. There were tens if not a hundred of them.
After restoring, there was only a few of them and after connecting to the internet there was one or two (don´t remember exactly) additions. The additions corresponded to the last additions before restoring.

Removing them doesn´t seem to hurt and clears the mess a bit but if they don´t get put back ...... ...... that´s the time to start worrying!

Post Reply re. Class3 Software in TIF

Thank you very much for reply and information. I guess I had read somewhere that this was was not a safe site, and, mainly, I had never seen it before until recently!

Correct - appendages such as crl.Verisign.com and IE5\Svynon8r (I have IE 6) show up when I look into Properties

As for general Cookies and Temp files, they are so abundant and have to be swept away as they block such things as Games...
