    I'll start at the beginning:

A few months ago I formatted and reinstalled XP and all service packs, application, programs, etc.

When I installed Spybot S&D it mentioned something about me having the wrong HpSdpAppCoreApp. It went on to explain how to remove the existing one from Windows folder, download and install the new one. Ok, no problem.
    Everything went smoothe.

Now other programs are trying to configure the HpSdpAppCoreApp but cant find it. I get the following error message:

" The feature you are trying to use is on a CD rom or other removable disk that is not available.
Insert the HpSdpAppCoreApp.msi disk and click ok. "

I do not have this disk that I am aware of. THe message displayed also says something about trying to configure the HpSdpAppCoreApp. I click cancel and it repeats. I have to click cancel several times before it goes away.

The programs in question are not affected in any way that I can tell. They work fine. Just what is this HpSdpAppCoreApp? It's installed in my Windows folder. Why can't they ( the programs ) see it? Why cant they configure it?

I did. Won't know if it cured the problem until I install another program that looks for it or whatever. I just didn't understand it to begin with. I did some searching and found it to be associated with HP's Easy Internet Signup. But everytime I reinstall (back to factory original) I delete those and other similiar files using RegSeeker's search file and registry feature. I searched again for those files but none were found. Hypothetically, HpSdpAppCoreApp should not have been a problem. Seems that way to me anyway.

    Thanks Paul for your suggestion.

Sorry Arie, I thought HpSdpAppCoreApp was a meaningful subject. :)

    (Couldn't resist) :)

    Hi Goddez1.

Been looking thru some of the links you linked to. There was nothing in the task scheduler or anywhere else that I could find. I don't understand it. I've formatted this comp several times and had no instance of this before.

Must of been what i refer to as a "ghost file" - a file that remains from an uninstall or program removal that has no link to any folder, file, or registry key; yet can be called upon by a file or registry key because the "ghost file" appears to be connected to another file or reg key when actually it is not.

Anyway, thanks for the link. Made for some informative reading.
