Hi, knowing that there are some knowledgeable people here I will try here, but most likely will need to inquire in Australia itself.
Here it goes, just had visited a old friend in central Australia with a email problem.
Laptop Windows 7 Home Premium Windows Live Mail POP3.
His problem is when he downloads his emails, deleting unwanted ones keeping others some in folders, turns off comp next time he starts his comp up again all the emails will download again the whole lot deleted ones and all a thousand odd emails, delete the lot, but it will download the lot again.
My opinion was that they are stored at the in-box at the server and therefore will be downloaded time after time again.
Any solution for a fix on his comp or a server issue.
He also is using a IPad that is on WiFi, the Laptop is hard wired to the Modem-Router.

    Hi Neil, thanks for that.
I think the nullskull method may work. I have sent him a text, so I will wait and see. But that is what I suspected that a copy of the email is kept at the ISP and every time he downloads his email all of them come down again.

Bill, it appears that you must spend a bit of time and set up your email the way you want rather than leave it at Default settings.
We learn as we go along....or we Google or ask someone more knowledgeable.
Hope he gets it sorted as it will have some small effect on data usage. Neil.

    Hi Neil,
That problem with his email only started about 3 weeks ago before that he had no problems with it.

Any new updates from MS which may have affected his system?
    No software downloads? Neil.

Well I have heard back from him yesterday, and he tells me that the solution on the nullskull website that I thought could solve his problem, but apparently nothing has changed.
The Microsoft link seems to be a different issue, refers to emptying the deleted items box.
In regards to your question about new updates, I don't know he's comp was fully updated, any new software I don't think so.

I sent him the link, so he can look through it and compare his settings.

Well heard back last night, and he did try again the suggestion in nullskull and he reports that at the moment it is working now. Fingers crossed it stays that way.
