    I have some questions regarding to a repair install of windows

    what are the disadvantages and advantages when you perform a repair install?

    what changes and what stays untouched?

    does anyone know an answer on these questions?

    most of them but with the explination given I don't see the difference between the 'build-in sfc tool' in windows xp and a repair install.

    is there a difference?

    Mainly this.
    If ever in doubt ...do the sfc first. If it doesn't solve the problem...try the repair.
