we have a computer on windows 98 with a rockwell modem. it was either removed years ago from the computer by one of our computer repair guys because it crashed and also hasnt been needed in years as we dont have dialup anymore or its still in there but doesnt work. we use a roadrunner modem for highspeed from timewarner to get on the internet. my question is its still listed in my add/remove programs can i safely remove it from the add/remove and nothing bad will happen? any info appreciated.

Yes you can safely remove the programs as you are not using the dial up modem .
Since you are using a broadband connection with your network card as the access point it should not matter at all.
Since you are on a cable broadband internet connection here is a site with tips on speeding up your high speed internet connection.

i removed it from the add/remove and so far nothing dire has happened, nor did the computer blow up. i guess since the modem was toast the computer can live without it just fine. :)
