i have a compaq presario 5070 that had the keyboard with easy access button support. i removed the old keyboard and put in a logitech keyboard that has been installed and is working fine but the stupid icon is still on my toolbar by the clock. how do i get it out of my computer? my new keyboard is listed in the add/remove programs but the old keyboard isnt. my computer uses windows 98. any help appreciated. right now all ive been able to do is diable the buttons but im not able to make it gone. :) i hope ive described the problem properly.

    Hi,
If there is a main program that runs it (look through your list of Start -> Programs, it may be under a Compaq heading) see if you can turn it off using the Options/Configuration/Settings menu. If not, go to Start -> Run, type and enter msconfig, go to the Startup tab, look through the listings and their starting programs locations, you should just have to uncheck it (see if there are any other unnecessary items there and uncheck those as well, you should be able to run them from their listing in Programs if you need them).

If those fail, look for a program Startup Control Panel (Startup Cpl) at www.majorgeeks.com.

Yes, some of those preinstalled programs are made so that they cannot be uninstalled or disabled. Better to "live and let live" rather than trying to be James Bond :D .

i agree. computers sometimes to us have stupid things we dont know what they are or what they do but boy if you touch them all kinds of disasters happen. i guess its the computers way of saying if you touch this i will hurt you. :) although it would be nice if when you do touch something crucial it would say warning ,touching this may be hazardous to your health. lol!
