Removing Program Running In Background

    I Have An Older Friend Running Windows Xp Home Edition And There Is A Screen Which Pops Up For One Second In The Background Saying "administration Password" And A Group Of Numbers. I Take It This Is Running In The Background And Using Resources Making The Computer A Little Slower. How Can I Find Out What This Is And Stop This Problem For Her?
