    Hi,

I tried installing a digital camera (Concord Eye Q 3X) only to find that it wasn't compatible with Windows XP. Well, now I have a "My Camera" folder in the "My Computer" folder that I can't figure out how to remove even though the camera doesn't appear to be installed.

Why do I want to remove it? It seems that having peripherals that are installed but not active causes XP to load at a slower rate for some reason. Previously, I had a scanner that stopped working after installing SP2 and my sister tried installing some drivers for unrelated scanners (not knowing how drivers work at all) and some scanner icons were created in the "My Computer" folder. Ironically, I didn't really pay much attention to them since they didn't seem to be hurting anything. After uninstalling these via Control Panel, however, the desktop started loading normally again; I don't see any way to do this with "My Camera ", however. And the load delay has been back since my attempt to install the camera.

I know that peripherals can be a cause of the desktop load delay since a website showed me that the peripherals were the reason for the problem the first time so I assume it's the same thing. Any help in getting rid of this folder would be appreciated. Thanks.

PLGaries - Welcome to the Board :)

Clearly the attempted installation of the camera software which was incompatible with XP installed something :) - check out the Start Up folder for any reference to it and, if there, remove it. Also check out msconfig for any start up entries relating to a camera (Start > Run > msconfig).

Also Control Panel > Scanners and Cameras - anything listed there?

You may be able to delete the My Camera folder in Safe Mode. I would not think that the presence of this folder would cause a start up delay - the reason is elsewhere, IMO.
