I've got a computer with Mandrake Linux that will not allow me to install Win98.
How do I remove Mandrake and the partition to install Win 98 clean ?

You will probably have to go through part of the Mandrake install to get to the setup file system, and choose manual or expert mode. Then you should be able to delete the partitions.

Boot the computer with the first installation cd in the cd drive. Be sure to set bios for cd as first boot device, first.

I take it you don't like Mandrake Linux??

    What errors are you getting?
What does the Win98 installer do when you boot off the cd-rom?
Is this a dual-boot or single boot PC? If it's a single boot then I would first try to boot off a Win9x bootdisk then at the a:> type fdisk/mbr this will rewrite the mbr and get rid of LILO or Grub or whatever bootloader that is being used then at the a:> type fdisk choose to delete non-Dos partitions then recreate the partitions you want, reboot then format your drive(s) as FAT32 (the Windows installer will do this or you can type format x: at the a:> (where x is the letter of your harddrive) and install Windows. Of course this will only work if you can boot off a Win9x bootdisk and get to a DOS prompt.

Now if it is a dual- boot and you want to save the other OS then you could resize the partition with something like partition magic or delete it as suggested eariler but if all else fails then there is always rm -rf / :D
