I have a nice big logo called "Internet Explorer" sitting on my desk top. Tried removing it and had problems so downloaded it in again. Don't really mind it, but not on my desktop. Is there any way of removing it from the desktop without ******** things up? Also; is it really necessary in WIN98 SE, and if so, what is its purpose?

Go to Tools\Internet Options\Advanced. Look for the box called "Show Internet Explorer on the Desktop" and uncheck it. Hit Apply\OK and exit.

    removing internet explorer

    It worked! Thanks a million.

Seeing as how you are so good at removing things from WIN98; would you know how to get rid of the flying windows when starting up the computer. I really don't enjoy the action and perhaps it might even save some time loading up.
