I am also having a problem deleting history items in IE/Windows98. Sometimes I can delete the items from the Tools/InternetOptions/ClearHistory drop down, and other times I do the same thing and nothing clears. Anyone else come across this?

Maybe the History folder is corrupt.
I would do this. First delete any cookies you do not want. Restart in Dos Mode and do these commands.
    smartdrv
    del c:\windows\cookies\index.dat
    del c:\windows\win386.swp
    deltree c:\windows\history
    deltree c:\windows\temp
    deltree c:\windows\tempor~1
Type a Y that you want to delete, check your spelling.
Then press CTRL+ALT+DEL to reboot. The deleted folders and files will be recreated.
