I have recently tried to remove an old backup file that I had created using the windows backup program (in system tools). I tried to remove it using the program first, but could only see Backup and Restore options. It made sense to me to then just simply right click and delete the file (which was 50GB in size).

A message had come up saying the file was too large for the recycle bin, and if i wanted to permanently delete the file. After choosing yes, the file was gone instantly, making me really wonder what had just happened. The space on my HD had not changed, and after doing a search for the file, none had come up.

However, after going back into the backup program, the date that the file was created still shows up, but the file itself does not.

    RECAP:
Deleted a backup file but did not get the HD space back.
The date the file was created still shows up in the backup program, but not the file itself (super...).

    QUESTION:
How do I successfully remove a backup file from my computer, especially from this situation.

I thank you for your time.

ANY input would be great, I have tried all that I could come up with and now i have 50 GB of space basically wasted...

Rather urgent, I could use any ideas at all...

    Thanks.
