We have many DC's here at my new office. We have only 60 users and 6 domain controlers. I know each domain controler takes on different roles i just dont know how to tell wich controler is doing what. I need to remove at least 4 of these domain controlers and do not know how to do this. Please any help or articles would be appreciated.

Wow, thats a lot of DCs for that size network. :)

You're thinking about the FSMO roles. There are 5 total roles; 2 are per forest and 3 are per domain (if you had 3 domains, you would have 8 total FSMO roles to hand out).

Open Active Directory Users and Computers, right click on your domain and go to "Operations Masters ". That will give you the RID Master, PDC Emulator, and Infrastructure for the domain. It is very easy to move these roles to a different DC if you are demoting one of the ones that holes a role.

Put the RID Master and PDC Emulator on the same machine. Do not put the Infrastruture Master on a Global Catalog if you can avoid it.

The Schema Master and Domain Naming Master you gotta look elsewhere. This link applies to Windows 2000, but is the same for 2003.
