Hi, keeping my Vista updated continuously, I take the update noticiation seriously. However, it keeps telling me an update for my Realtek WiFi card is available. Trying to install it, the update fails, and I also know for a fact that this version is older than the one I have.

Is there any way of excluding an update from showing up in the new updates notification, so that new updates are only announced when there actually are some I will install?

    For future reference .....

Steer clear of any hardware driver updates offered by Windows/Microsoft Update - they often cause all sorts of grief :)

Go direct to manufacturer's websites for driver updates.

Thanks for the advice, I've learnt this the hard way previously!

Any ideas how to remove the Realtek update from the Windows update notification, though?

If you'll bring up the update window - right click and select hide...
