Anybody figured out a definitive way to remove the new "pocket" in the latest version of Firefox? I want it removed, or uninstalled, altogether. I hear that it is a paid addon, and I am wondering if it could possibly be spyware.

    1. Visit about:config

    2. Find browser.pocket.enabled preference

    3. Change value to false.

    4. Close and restart firefox.

Just Right click > Remove from Menu. It's not going to do anything until you 'Subscribe' to it which activates it.
If it's not on the Menu - you can't "SAVE" anything to it.
Just saves having to go into Config where you have to sign your life away if you make a change. Neil.

    Thanks guys.

I tried the about:config route yesterday, but the web site I visited must've given out misinformation.

EDIT: The fix worked fine on the Toshiba laptop, but I cannot get rid of the pocket link on the bookmarks menu on the Dell.

    James, try this:

Open about:config and toggle browser.pocket.enabled to true.

Restart firefox and the pocket icon will again show either in the main toolbar or in the menu.

Click the hamburger menu icon and select customize at the bottom of the menu.

Drag the Pocket icon to the Additional Tools and Features area to the left of the blue box. Exit customize. View Pocket List will be gone from bookmarks.

If you want the icon gone from AT&F, toggle browser.pocket.enabled back to false and restart firefox.

James, My earlier Post is what I did and after a half dozen Shut downs and Starts - it has not shown at all. Neil.

I could not get the fix to work until:

I have the menue at the top of the screen all the time. I opened view>toolbars and took away the check mark on menu. Then the fix worked.

I don't know why some things are different in different windows PCs.

Anyhow the pocket is gone now.....

Windows 8.1 - Tried all of the above, pocket still in the bookmarks menu.

Problem is pocket icon never shows in the blue box. Still trying different
    changes (configs).

If you are using a theme other than default, be sure it has a Pocket icon included.

Firefox has a safe mode. Try it and see if the icon appears.

Many people reporting problems with the Pocket feature. Firefox 39 is in Beta 5. Likely release around June 15. You might just wait a while and see if the issue is resolved with bug fixes.

If Pocket shows up in the Customize window, right click it and select Remove from...
