    Hello all,

Been a while but good to see you all still hard at it. I recently installed a HP printer for my wife on her machine and followed all the instructions given. It says not to connect the USB until told to do so and that is just what I did, so when propmted I plugged in the printer and continued with install.

All seems fine with the printer but everytime at boot up I get a little icon in the lower right corner of screen that looks like a USB connecter and if I hole my mouse over it it says "Safely Remove Hardware" and I want to get rid of that.
I know this is the printer it is referring to because when I remove it I have no printer until reboot again. Is there any way to correct this annoying problem??

    Thanks in advance,
    FIREDANCER

With the emergence of net cams, flash drives and other casual user devices, the USB port gets a lot of use nowdays. Hot plugging those devices in and out may tend to cause premature failure so the icon you mention is there for you to right-click on and select to shut the port down so the device can be removed safely. The alternative is to shut the computer completely off to do that. I think you'll just have to learn to ignore it. Hiding it wouldn't serve you the best in the long haul.
