    Hi,

Can anyone help. I have an old computer with Windows XP and Windows 2000 NT installed.

I wish to remove both copies, format the drive and re-install XP.

How do I force the formatting of the hard drive so I can re-install.

I have made the boot-up from CDROM in BIOS but it seems to go straight to the hard drive
and ask if I wish to use XP or Windows 2000 NT.

When booting, do you have the XP setup CD in the drive bay? If so and if you have the boot sequence set to poll the CD drive first, then your CD-ROM drive is not reading the media.

To test that, boot to a Windows session and see if the setup CD can be read in Windows Explorer.

You may have a bad CD or a bad CD-ROM drive.
