I was on a website, and did a right click and put the picture of the site on the desktop in error. It appeared on the desktop just as a pic not a folder so there is no delete to remove it. Please advise.

Right click on the desktop where there is no Icon, select properties, Click on the desktop tab, and in the background list select none, or whatever preference you have.

Thanks for your reply. That took the background off the desktop but not the picture from the website. Any other ideas?

Ok, as before right click on desktop, select properties, select desktop tab...

Now click customize desktop button, select the Web tab and clear any ticks (there should only be one) in the webpages panel.

    EDIT:

Perhaps, I'm misunderstanding you, when you say picture from the website, do you mean Icon, or shortcut? If so right clicking on the picture and selecting delete should work

When I went into the site, the main picture that was on the screen is where I did the right click (as if I was saving it to favorites). I saw that I could put it on the desktop so that is what I did-not a good idea. On the desktop, when right clicking there is not a delete option. I also have tried going back to a different time to delete the image, but that also did not work. Hope I am explaining it clearer and again, thank you for any help you can give me.

Ok, for clarification, when you right clicked on the picture what was the wording in the menu Item you selected and what web browser do you use?

I'm still not sure what you mean by image (Icon or Background), if you right click on it at all is there any menu options at all? If so what?

It is a background. When I right clicked it the following are listed.save picture as, e-mail pic, print pic, go to my pictures, set as background, set as desktop item, copy, add to favorites, properties. Now, from my desktop (right clicking) my options are arrange icons, refresh, undo delete (adds empty folder only) new, and properties. I clicked on set as desktop item.

I just went into that area and I have two items listed. One is the pic I don't want there and the other is my current home page. The item that is checked is the pic. not my home page. Ah Ha!!
