    My OS is Windows98SE.

When trying to activate a new MP3 player the Removable Disk that was supposed to "appear for drag-and-drop of music files" (according to the manual for the player) did not appear. This led me to investigate what the Removable Disk is. Unfortunately I have been unable to find out what it is and why, when I click on "D Removable Disk" in My Computer or Windows Explorer, it is shown as "Not accessible (New line)The device is not ready ". Windows help menus offer no help.

Since you are using Win98, check that your device is compatible. You may need to install a driver.

I believe if I understand this right, this MP3 player plugs into a USB port? If so it is the Removable Disk that is being referred to.
With Win98, you must install any and all USB drivers and/or software before plugging the device in, else you get problems.
