Hi, this is on 2 XPproSP3 PCs. One is the remote host. "Remote desktop connection" allows good connectivity from our home (client xp PC) to the host for almost all tasks. Our home is C/S w2KAS, 1 server, 3PCs, 1 Mac. All connex good.
-When it's time to print, in the host's printers menu, one of our printers, directly connected to the server via a traditional printer cable ECP, allows that remote host to print to our local printer, a laserjet 4mp.
-but we also have a newly installed canon AIO, ethernet connection only. The remote host's printers menu does not show the new canon. The canon is installed onto our server, via the router, ethernet, and our server can print to it.
-Do we need to install (the canon's) drivers on the remote host, so that the remote host can print documents to our local canon printer? Or is there some other (simpler? or ???) way to print those docs from the host, locally on our canon? (It is also odd (to me), but the laserjet 4mp, has connectivity only thru lpt1:, but that works I guess going thru our server to the printer (?)). Thank you.

I believe what you are saying is that you cannot print to a network printer at a remote host? I believe the network printer must be able to support the protocol used for remote desktop connections.
