I am @ work and I want to Remote to my home computer.

The home computer is behind a Linksys Router so I am guessing that its blocking outside connections....I know there is a way to get around the router, or just allow certain programs through the firewall on the router.
...and yes, Remote Connections IS enabled on the home computer... :)

If using VNC is easier I have it installed on both computers

Pretty sure its port 3389 that you need to open on the router.

I have a linksys wrt54g router and i had to do a few things to get it to work properly.

1st - I had to setup a static ip address for the computer i want to remote to on my home network.
2nd - I had to go into the router configuration and setup port forwarding. Forward port 3389 to 192.168.x.x. (the computer's static ip that i want to connect to on my network).
3rd - This is not necessary, but very useful if you have a dynamic ip address from your ISP. Setup a dynamic dns name from any free provider you choose. I went with www.dyndns.org because it's free and works perfectly. This allows you to connect to your home computer without knowing the ip address but simply putting in you dyndns name that you choose EX: myhomenetwork.dyndns.org.

I hope this is useful. If you would like a more in depth walk through let me know! By the way, VNC is the same steps, only difference is you have to forward ports 5800 and 5900 (by default) in order to connect. VNC has vulnerabilities, i recommend ultravnc. It's completely open source and comes with many different encryption options (unlike the free version of realvnc)
