I have a netmeeting question. I am using netmeeting to remote into my
notebook which is a Windows xp pro box. The machine I am using to remote from
is a Windows 2000 pro box. I do not use an external monitor on the notebook.
Is there a setting within netmeeting which allows to turn off the laptop
display so that the remote work I do on it is not being displayed? It is a
privacy concern. I tried putting the laptop into standby mode but then was
unable to remote in. Any input would be helpful!! Thanks much!! Have a great
    day!!!

Instead of Netmeeting, use Remote Desktop

When you log into the computer, it will display the login screen at the remote site.

    Remote Desktop

Is remote desktop available?? I am going from a Win2kpro to a WinXP Pro
machine. I didn't think Win2000 Pro has the Remote Desktop capabilities.
    Thanks..

    JJ :)

1 way to get the lastest remote desktop client software, is by going to the link below. Hosting Remote Desktop is only possible on a XP Pro and Server 2003 machine. It is built in to those OSes. XP Home has the client built in as well, but cannot host a connection.

The client software works on all versions of Windows and the download and more info on it are here too:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...21-d48d-426e-96c2-08aa2bd23a49&DisplayLang=en

When a machine hosting a RD connection is being used by the remote user, the log in screen (welcome screen if in XP) is showing and nothing else. If all profiles are passworded on the host, nobody can log into the host at any time. If they had a password, they would log out the RD user by logging in.
