After installing SystemWorks 2005 ... windows will not open on start up.

Symantec suggests that I reinstall windows 98.

I'd like to know what the procedure is and if there are any steps I need to take before or after.

    Thanks much!

This will only work if you have the 98SE CD and the multi-digit number that goes with it. And I have to assume that Windows is in the normal C:\Windows folder.

Also this may not work on an OEM machine such as Dell, Compaq, HP etc. I have never had an OEM so I do not know.

    1st--you need a Win98 Startup disk. ( floppy )
2nd- boot from power off to it.
    3rd--At the A:\ prompt type CRDOM:\Win98\Setup. ie- D:\Win98\Setup

Then as the screens go by watch CAREFULLY that Windows gets re-installed into the existing Windows folder.

Windows should handle itself pretty well the rest of the way.
