Reinstalling Netscape 7.1 on a new computer

To all you wonderful people who solved my problem with Netscape 7.1 and at least figuratively saved my life, my eternal gratitude. Now here’s another question that needs answering, and again I’m hoping you’ll come through.

I plan to buy a new computer soon. My old one with its Pentium II and 64 megs of RAM is getting old and somewhat decrepit and won’t work with high-speed cable Internet, which I would like to order. I plan to transfer all my data using either my Zip disks or an inexpensive program that does the job, apparently with ease. But what do I do about my Netscape 7.1? If I simply copy it from one machine to the other, it won’t be tied up to the new computer’s registry. Right? So how do I get it to work properly? If I reinstall it, I lose a whole bunch of stuff like bookmarks and email addresses and the like. What do you think I should do?

Also, the same holds true for Microsoft Word (version 97), where I have all sorts of settings and keyboard shortcuts and macros that I need to transfer to the new computer. The biggest reason why I haven’t upgraded to a new computer is because of these programs, which I would lose in the transfer. Sounds like the same problem, right?

Never fear, you won't lose anything when transfering you Netscape Profile from the OLD to the NEW PC.
