My Windows XP system crashed and I had to reinstall. It is up and running again, except I can not get onto the internet (I have AOL). I have a Linksys router (the computer with the problem was directly connected to the router) and have 2 other computers connected via the router (both are still able to connect to the internet) I have tried to connect via the Linksys and also by plugging my computer directly into the cable and either way I can not connect to the internet. Is there something I have to change in my computer settings in order for the computer to know how to connect to the internet. I thought it would detect the cable modem automatically, but I guess thats not the case.

Did you run the network setup wizard after the reinstall?

Please post the contents of the two text files you will be creating. This needs to be done from one of your working PCs and the non-working one. Post all the information - i.e., don't hide any of it with xxxx or similar.

Click on start -> run and key in cmd then click OK.

From the cmd prompt key in the following and then copy the contents of the c:\ipconfig.txt file and paste here.

    ipconfig /all > c:\ipconfig.txt
