    Hello,

I am new to your forum. My name is Naima.

I joined this forum because I find myself stuck. My daughter thought that she could reimage a computer that she had messed up and..........she really has messed it up.

It's a Dell Vistro 220. Running Windows Vista Ultimate. Intel Core Duo CPU
3037 MB; 32 bit Operating System. We have reinstalled Windows Vista on it, but now it is not reading the network adapters. I have plugged it directly into my cable modem and have checked the settings, but still it isn't reading the Local Area Network for me to configure it.

Can't remember what to do from this point as it has been more than a year since I've had to tackle these types of problems. She needs this for school and I could really use your help.

I have downloaded drivers from Microsoft and that hasn't helped. Downloaded Vista SP1 and tried to install, but it won't take the install. Windows Installer Services is started, but unable to install anything on the machine. Please Help!! She needs this for school.

    Thanks,

    Naima

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

You need to install the drivers that came on the cd you got with the machine...Or you can get them from Dell.

Check to make sure the device is showing up in device manager and see what drivers are listed as being installed. If you have the time fancy taking a Live linux for a spin and make sure it is not a real Hardware issue that just so happened to creep up at the same time. "And as all ways" check and double check all cords and connections virfying one a second machine where avalible.

Did you mean Dell Vostro. On the bottom of your computer is a Service Tag. Write it down. Then go to dell.com Click on support and drivers. You will then be asked for the service #. Click on the link for the service tag type in your service tag#.

Thank you everyone. I did do everything that you have all suggested. Unfortunately none of it worked. I have used KillDisk to wipe the hard drive clean and then reinstalled the OS - starting from scratch. I have the drivers saved on a disk and am going to try installing them again. Will keep you updated.

    Naima:(
