    Appreciate some assistance.

Might need to reinstall W98 (possibly first edition) over itself on a Compaq PC. As Compaqs go, the machine just has a Quick Restore CD to work with, and a Compaq partition 'D'.

The owner of the PC may have deleted some necessary Windows files, not sure yet, but looking at all the possibilities.

The Quick Restore CD wipes everything out, so that is not an option, right now, anyway.

May need to install Windows over itself, but using what/where?

    Any thoughts on this one?

    Thanks for the help.

If the C:\Windows\Options\Cabs folder is still there, you can reinstall windows using the setup.exe file there. Just click on the exe file to open it as you would any other exe and the Windows setup/install should start.

    Thanks much for the info.

Was able to use the Quick Restore CD to get the system back in order.

However, wanted to know of other options, just in case...

    Good day!
