Reinstall Netmeeting

    Anyone been able to reinstall netmeeting with Windows XP? Please try it before you answer my thread.

    Welcome to the boards. Rather than wait to respond.....why don't you tell us what the problem is so we can try to help?
    Is it that Windows Messenger needed to be updated from 4.0 to 4.5 immediately after installation. and that you need to find someone else using XP in order to use some of its more advanced features such as video chats?

    As Dazy... I'm not sure about your problem... Just to be sure... you do know that Netmeeting is installed on XP by default right?

    You can start Netmeeting by typing conf.exe in the Run command, or placing a shortcut to \Program Files\Netmeeting\Conf.exe on your Desktop or Quick Launch menu.

    My problem with netmeeting has been no sound. Video and all features work properly except the sound. Sound works with all other applications including yahoo video messenger,media player, Explorer, etc. Reinstalling sound card drivers changes nothing. If I could reinstall netmeeting it should tell me if there is a compatability problem with my sound card or fix any other related issues with the sound card and netmeeting drivers. The problem is strictly netmeeting related. I have tried XP to XP, ME to XP, 98 to XP. The problem is with one XP machine. All other Windows Operating Systems it is very simple to reinstall netmeeting. So like I said before......Does anyone know how to reinstall netmeeting on XP? DONT REPLY UNTIL YOU HAVE TRIED TO DO THIS! I don't care how much you think you know.

    Well, that a sure-fire way to get help isn't it? If you truly believe that there aren't minds smart enough to help you troubleshoot this without going through the re-install, I wish you all the luck in the world.

    You did read the part that both machines must use Windows XP: Messenger's voice and video features don't work with other versions of Windows, much less with other OSs didn't you?

    Be sure to let us know how it goes for you, so others can learn from your knowledge.

    I have used netmeeting from an XP machine to a ME machine with no difficulties. No where have I said anything about messenger. I know messenger and netmeeting are used together in XP however messenger just uses netmeeting for its voice and video. Which leads me to the same thing I have been asking this whole time. Does anyone know how to reinstall netmeeting on an XP machine.

    I have also used netmeeting from XP PC to XP PC and it still doenst work on the faulty PC.

    Well hopefully when I am done with this Daizy you will have gained some knowledge yourself.....How to reinstall netmeeting on Windows XP.
