I backed up my computer on a flash drive. Now I want My Documents in a folder on my desk top. I can put them in the folder and use them but when I remove the flash drive they are gone . how do I leave them in the folder after i remove the flash. I have checked Google and can't get an answer. what is my solution?

When you put your flash drive in - do you get a Menu asking where you want to Open it?
Do you get a Send to option?
Anything I have on a USB drive I can send to Documents or Desktop or where ever I want. Neil.

It says Play, import pictures and videos, open folder to view files & folders using Win.Explrer. I can click this and the files open and I can put them iadesk top folder and open and use them but when I remove the flash drive they are no longer in the folder. You can only access those files if the USB device is plugged in at all times unless you copy the files from the device over to your computer.

James. If you Right click on the Folder you have on your Desktop - Send to Documents should install to your Documents Library? Neil.

Yes, that command will copy the file over to the My Documents folder on C drive.

If I am understanding Johnny correctly, it sounds like he moved the contents of his My Documents folder over to his flash drive - which is OK, but if he removes that flash drive, he will no longer have access to those files until he plugs the drive back in.

I have a shortcut on my desktop to *I* drive (USB stick), but if I remove that drive, then the shortcut no longer works until I insert the drive again.

If Johnny copied files from his device to a folder on his desktop, he should have access to those files even after the device is removed.
