When I reboot my pc I get a blue screen that says, "If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follo these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. if this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. if you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press f8 to select Advanced Starup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

    Technical information:

    ***STOP: 0x00000051 (0x00000003,0x00000003,0x00000000x0xE1458000)

    Beginning dump of physical memory

    Physical memory dmp complete.

Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assistance.

Nothing has changed in my system, ie. no new hardware. (P4 XP pro )

Zog - Welcome to the Board :)

I found these threads with a Google - there are plenty more!!,

http://www.mcse.ms/message854123.html - ignore the fact it refers to 2k

    http://www.experts-exchange.com/Operating_Systems/WinXP/Q_21056941.html

    and so on.
Hardware may be failing and pulling the m/c down. One possibility is to physically remove all plug in boards except the video card - assuming that you do not use onboard video and see if it will boot. Then replace each card one by one until it BSOD's again. You have then identified the culprit.

If all this fails we have a facility for analysing dumps, but this requires the computer to be running to load some software and to extract the dump.

How to Troubleshoot a "STOP 0x00000051 REGISTRY ERROR" Error Message

In addition to the great links pete posted, i'd give 'last known good' a whirl. If its still doing it, you have a couple options. Do a 'parellel install' so the dump can be extracted and analyzed, or an inplace upgrade, which will probably cause you to need to reinstall everything. I'd caution that without a backup/ERD to work with, if LKG doesnt help, you are probably in an unrecoverable situation (short of reinstall).
