Still having troubles with Microsoft Office XP. I talked to Dell todayand we tried to remove this program in the regular mode and also in safe mode, and each way the program quit responding. The person I spoke with said it would need to be removed through the Registry, but he didn't know how to do it. Long story short....they want me to reformat C drive to solve the problem. Is removing this program in the Registry doable, and if so, could someone tell me how to do it? I'd rather NOT start from scratch again if it can be avoided.............I've already had to do it twice because I've had two hard drives die since I got this computer. Any help and/or advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any help that can be provided.

    Hi ziggee
I'd not follow such poor advice. In essence....they're saying " I dunno. "....and are copping out with a suggestion to reformat.
Have you read through this? It's pretty straight forward on how to remove Office XP?

Thanks Daizy...........I removed the entries as per the page you sent, and also ran the set up as the page directed too. Hope this will solve my problems, but I'm not holding my breathe. I'll give it a day to see if I have more problems, and then I'll come back and let you know if this REALLY did fix the problem or not.

    Thanks again:)

Hi Ziggee. Glad the link was useful. Do post back if you have any more info...such as error messages you are getting. In the meantime...we'll keep our fingers crossed.

Well, just tried to pull up a file in Word and it won't open because it needs to have the disk to install the program that I thought I just set up!!! I am sooooooooooo fed up with this! Don't know what to do.........guess I'll just have to do what they suggested and start from scratch. I may just try calling Dell again to see if a different Tech has any different suggestions. Thanks anyway for trying to help. I just love this board, and appreciate all the kind people who help run it and answer all our questions.

Ziggee? I'm a little confused. I thought you were trying to uninstall? Or was the purpose to uninstall so you could re-install?

Are you able to open any office program?

Yes, I needed to remove it, and then reinstall it. Supposedly that was to fix the problem, but if it didn't then I guess starting from scratch was the next step because they thought other files were corrupted and the whole drive should be reformatted.

This problem has only been going on since I had the last hard drive installed. On the other two Microsoft Office worked just fine, so maybe they do know what they're talking about when they say C needs to be reformatted??? I didn't want to do a reformat, but I'm getting tired of having to reload Office every time I want to open one of my documents.

Anyway Daizy, thanks for helping, and hopefully they may still have a 'trick' up their sleeves!
