Giving my old computer to a friend. If I right click <my computer >and then <properties> it says registered to: <my name>. How can I change the registration name from me to my friend. Thanks

If you're giving him the computer then I'm assuming you are giving him the disks also. Format the drive and let him install Windows with his name. Yours will be gone. Along with any other information about you. A good security move.

If you don't want to follow John's (dopey's) advice and assuming you have Win98 you can change the Registered Owner name with a registry hack.

Run "regedit" from the run command on the start menu, then navigate to the following registry key "

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

In the righthand window look for "RegisteredOwner ", right click on that line, then click on "Modify ", change the name, click OK then close the registry and reboot. The name should be changed.

Another way to find the reg. key is to click on Edit>Find, type "RegisteredOwner" (no quotes) in the Find What box and let it search for the above key. If it finds other keys first, just keep hitting F3 until the above key comes up.
