    Hi,

This problem baffled recently and I was hoping some could explain why?

I currently run 512mb PC133 SDRAM unbuffered on a PC100 fsb Slot1 MS6156 MoBo Bx440, with Win98se - My system is fine except for the odd BSoD on boot-up pointing to VM errors.

I checked my manual and it stated that my MoBo should utilise 512mb REGISTERED DIMMS, so of I went to Crucial and ordered 2 x 256 sticks of Registered memory PC133 CL2 ECC. I put them in as replacements and the PC refused to boot, just returning a blank black screen - I tried all possiblities to resolve this but nothing worked. With my old unbuffered sticks in the PC booted up first time.

I have returned the registered sticks to Crucial (great service) but can anyone tell me why it didnt work?? Was there anything I could have done or overlooked??

    Any advice welcome,

    Mick(UK)

You should have ordered non-ecc, I would think?
