Resolved Reduce the Size of the Profile Folder

Hi All, ............ In preparing to transfer my 2.0.0.24 Thunderbird to a second hard drive, I was surprised at the size of the Profile folder, about six-tenths of a gigabyte. Most of the size is due to the Inbox, Sent, and Trash files. The main TB screen indicates that these files are of single or double digit size. I would like to maintain recent parts of these files and remove the excess. Can this be done? How?

 

Christer, ............. Your reply was right on. I followed the instructions for Compacting Folders as given in the MozzillaZine article. As a result I was able to bring the size of the Profile folder down into the MB range which I consider reasonable. Thank you for your instructive support.

Admin. ............... I tried to mark this Post as Resolved. When I click on Thread Tools the screen scrolls to the bottom to Similar Threads which show five threads in the Malware and Virus forum. Also, the "B" for Bold doesn't appear to be working. ???
