red light on ethernet card?

    im supposed to have a green light where my computers ethernet connects with modem (i have cable) well i have a red light. im online,can surf, post this
    and medicom says everything looks okay on their side.

    changed cables, no difference, light is still red
    any ideas as to whats going on?

    Where does it say what colour the LED is meant to be? The colour can vary from network card to network card. In general, you just need to look for a lit and/or flashing LED. It's possible for an LED to be used to give a warning, but if that is the case, it should say so in the documentation. I think you'll find that this NIC just happens to have a red (is it actually orange) LED.
