    Hi,

I have four hard drives on my machine and five partitions, c:, d:, e:, f: and g:. I have configured the recycle bin to only use c: but after a reboot the settings are always changed so that c:, d: and e: are used (f: and g: remain disabled as required).

The first IDE drive has two partitions c: and d: and the second IDE drive has a single partition e:. The last two drives are not single drives but two RAID channels. These are f: and g: - no problem with the settings for these.

It appears to me that windows will not let you manage the recycle bin for any partitions that are on the primary and secondary IDE connections!

Anyone else had this problem? Is there a way to select only the partitions that you want the recycle bin to use?

    Regards Basher

    Hi Basher,

    Welcome to the BBS.

My system, while similar to yours, is set up in reverse. I have C:, D:, E:, and F: on the two RAID 1 drives, M: is a single partition on the primary slave drive, and N: and O: are on the secondary slave drive.

I hadn't noticed it before, because I don't usually mess with the Recycle Bin settings, but you appear to be correct ... I am unable to do anything with the settings for M:, N:, or O:, the partitions on the two IDE buses.

Be interesting to see what anyone may be able to contribute. I'm away for the weekend, but will check back on Tuesday to see who else has weighed in.

I can't help with the configuration issues but in case you haven't run across the trick, holding down the SHIFT key while you press or click Delete forces a bypass of the recycle bin and just deletes the stuff.
