Several Days ago I lost my recycle bin and the ability to use it. This happened after I removed Norton Systemworks 3.0.

Would really appreciate any help getting the recycle bin back onto my desktop.

    Thanks -

    Hi Staninpa,

Hopefully this will be as easy as restarting in dos mode and deleting c:\recycled. The bin will be recreated on a reboot. Norton throws a possible monkeywrench into this. Particularly if you did not empty, disable and remove the "protected bin" (a Norton component) before hand. But we'll keep our fingers crossed and hope this will not be a problem. If so you may need to reinstall Norton and remove all bin related things before uninstalling it again, or a possible symantec site search will have to be done to see if this can be manually done after uninstalling Norton. We'll cross that bridge if and when need be.

I have not typed in the details of the instructions because you may be best served by reading the 10 or so past posts dealing with the recycle bin. The instructions you'll need will be in a few of these.

Try an advanced search using the keyword filters of recycle bin and make sure win98 is selected for the forum:
