recycle bin changed

Suddenly my recycle bins looks different. It used to show exactly what was in there with possibly the icon and some text. Now it shows the windows icon with some numbers for each item.

Can someone tell me how to get it back to how it was originally?

 

I think the recycled folder is corrupted. However, my suggestion to fix it will remove everything in the bin.
First go into Windows Explorer and delete the file named ShellIconCache. It is a hidden file, so you need to go to the toolbar at View, then Folder Options, then click on View in the new window, then select Show All Files, click Apply then OK to find it.
Restart in Dos Mode, type in this command at the prompt;
deltree c:\recycled
Press Y that you want to delete, check the spelling at this time.
Then press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart your computer, your Recycle Bin should work better.

 

Thank you Mark for responding. Before I follow your instructions is there any way the recycle bin can be changed back to it's original state by going to the folder options. The way it's set now is, there is a tick in customs. I don't remember if that's the way it was before the change occurred.

 

Right click in blank area of Recycle Bin, then View and pick your choice.

 

Mark when I click on a blank part up comes view and then there is a check on "View as web page " and a black dot next to large icons. What exactly do I do now?

Maybe this will help. I think the change occurred when I went to ( not on the recycle bin, don't remember where I was) view, explorer, folders.

Soooo!!!! I took a chance. I opted to empty the recycle bin. I could not believe, 891 items. This I don't understand because I have never let it accumulate. That did it . Everything is back to normal. If I have made a mistake, I'm sure it will come back to bite me.
