ON WINDOWS XP 2002 (DETAILS ARE ON FILE)

Have recently had to have virus removed from computer and since it has come back have found I cannot download my picture through the Windows Fax Viewer.
When I plug my Kodak camera in it automatically comes up with the EasyShare programme which has always been installed but I much prefer to use the Windows version. Have searched BBS tried a couple of the solutions but nothing has worked. Can you tell me how to reinstall this please?

Right click a picture > select Open with > in list of programs select Windows Picture & Fax viewer > put check in box to always use this program...

If no joy, open My Computer > rt click the Camera icon or its removable drive > select Properties > Autoplay tab > change settings.

Hi Tony thank you for quick response tried the first method and it did not work tried second but found that when i go into 'MY COMPUTER' and follow the instructions you give when i click on the icon then properties there is no Autoplay tab??.Kodak Easyshare overides everything i try to do.Would it be best if i removed Kodak Easyshare and tried again?.

What I am aiming for is when i plug my camera to the computer i want the Windows Wizard to come up like it used to so i can then transfer my pictures to the computer.

    Many thanks

What are you right clicking on in My Computer? Does the camera have a memory card? If so, the card will show up as a drive. Rt click it > select Properties and there will be an Autoplay tab.

If no luck, use the Microsoft Autoplay Repair Wizard.

    Hi Tony,

Camera does not have a memory card i connect via usb cable.Tried the Autoplay Repair Wizard and it sauys it was successful but still when i plug camera in wizard does not come up because Kodak Easyshare is overiding it every time.Removed the Kodak Easyshare programme and tried again but still could not do it. Have now put back Kodak Easyshare.Don't worry if we have tried everything I will just have to learn how to work with the Easyshare programme..it's not your fault I am sure I am doing something wrong!!!

There's maybe a setting in the Easy Share software for auto-import camera pics, or else there's a file on the camera storage itself that autoruns the Easy Share software.

    See this Kodak answer:
How do I stop KODAK EASYSHARE Software from automatically starting when I connect my digital camera to my computer running the WINDOWS XP or 2000 Operating System?

    Then try this:

After Eastshare has been disabled, try to access the camera in My Computer. You may be able to rt click it and select "Explore ". It should open the camera storage in an explorer window. If so, find a pic > rt click > select Open with > select Win Pic & Fax viewer.

Are you certain about that? Most all cameras have their own internal storage and a memory card.
