I have a lot of rechargeable batteries. I got a slew of them on sale at Amazon.

Sometimes they are easier to keep track of than others. :D

If I recharge a battery that has just been recharged,

    (1) Would it still pull in electricity from the outlet and run up my bill?
    (2) would it harm either the recharger, or the battery itself?

    Hi Paul:

    From what I have learned:

    (1) Yes, but only a miniscule amount. Over time yes it would run up the bill, but I doubt if you would notice it due to day to day fluctuations in electricty use.

    (2) A qualified NO, but eventually the battery may develop "memory" and you will not be able to realize full capacity from it. The older NiCad batteries are more prone to developing memory. The newer Lithium Ion batts are not so prone.

Environmental wisdom says to uplug any chargers you may have when they are not in use as some draw a constant small power usage even when not charging any device. (Cell phone, batteries, cordless phones, etc.)

    Just my 2 cents worth.
